On 1st and 2nd of December 2017, China International Publishing Group organized the 2017 Forum on Language Services and the 2017 Annual TAC Conference. This 2-day event, hosted by the Translators Association of China (TAC) aimed to promote the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, the country’s political discourse system and the impact of artificial intelligence in the language solutions services industry.
With more than 700 representatives who traveled across the world, from central government agencies, research institutions, universities, trade organizations, foreign translation associations, translation and publication agencies and chamber of commerce, this event showcased some of the most valuable insights in the development of the language services industry and how the rise of China can influence the rest of the world.
The Vice Minister of the State Council Information Office, Guo Weimin, who opened the ceremony with his speech announced that the international communities are paying close attention to the development and changes happening in China.
Mr Guo added the sound development of the translation sector should be achieved by speeding up well conceived planning structure, establishment of high standards and the cultivation of high-end talent.
How Transn International Aims To Shape Human and Machine Translation Needs In the Language Service Industry.
“Translation practitioners are now enjoying a broader platform yet stricter requirements to help the world understand China correctly.”, said Mr Guo.
Mr He Enpei is a leading figure in the language solutions services industry. He is the President and CEO of Transn International and the Vice President of the 6th TAC Council. Mr He stated the global information across the internet has exploded more than 1,000 times over the past two decades, but the data in translation services has only doubled.
The time for artificial intelligence has arrived. Artificial Intelligence or the idea that computer systems can perform functions typically in association with the human mind has gone from a predictive and futuristic speculation to present-day reality.
Although there are increasing numbers of translation software and platform in the market, machine translation does not contain the human distinction and element when it comes to colloquialism, double meaning, and psychological direction. High-level of translation needs for businesses still requires the human touch, yet, arguably, the human translation opens room for error. Therefore, Mr He believes that, in the next 3 years, the biggest trend for the language solutions service industry will be the coagulation of man and machine translation. Transn International is one of the few to recognise this challenge in the industry and have been taking steps forward to solve this problem with their new platform.
